What is D.Comm?
D.Comm is communications software.
Datamax provides it free of charge to clients wishing to make use
of our services. Once D.Comm has been installed you are able to
send claims electronically via Datamax.
Note that you must register with Datamax before
trying to send claims.

Is my Practice Management Software
Compatible?
If you are already claiming electronically (with
one of our competitors), then YES.
Otherwise, give us a call and we will check for
you.

Who does Datamax deliver
to?
Datamax is able to deliver claims to almost all
the medical aids in South Africa. We can also deliver WCA claims
to Compsol (but you must have a contract with them first!!)
Datamax uses the same activation codes
as our competitors, so if you try us there are no changes
necessary in your practice management software.
If you register with Datamax we will send you
a list of medical aids and their activation codes. We also send
updates of this list from time to time as changes are made.
If you wish to obtain the list of medical aids
without registering, send an email to activ@datamax.co.za
or call Datamax on 086 051 5125.

What does it cost?
It's FREE - for the first month!!!
After that: Due to the unique circumstances of
each medical discipline, it is common practice in our industry to
charge different rates for each discipline.
In general our rates are at least 10%
below our nearest competitor.
If you would like to find out exactly what we
would charge, please give us a call on 086 051 5125.

Realtime vs Batch – which
is better?
Realtime: means that each claim
is delivered to the medical aid immediately.
Batch: means that many different
claims are collected and submitted to the medical aid together (in
a batch) - perhaps at the end of the day.
Q: Realtime gets the claims
there a few hours earlier, but does it ensure quicker payment?
A: No, the medical aids make
payments in cycles.
However, consider that to provide a realtime
infrastructure costs exponentially more. That's why some of our
competitors are so expensive!
Batch delivery ensures more reliability
and accountability - which is why Datamax uses this method
of delivery.

How does D.Comm connect to
Datamax?
D.Comm can be configured to make use of one of
the following:
Internet: Almost any kind of
internet connection can be used, including dialup, ISDN, wireless
broadband, ADSL, GPRS, 3G, WiFi and so on.
Analogue modem: D.Comm can connect
direct to Datamax (without the need for an internet account) using
a standard analogue modem.
ISDN: D.Comm can also connect
direct to Datamax (without the need for an internet account) using
a standard ISDN modem. (Note that most ISDN modems require "Com
port emulation" software to be installed. This is usually supplied
with the modem.)

Can we check benefits online?
Despite the claims made by our competitors, most
medical aids will not provide this information.
Similarly to our competitors we are able to verify
the details of members before submitting claims. This ensures the
type of accuracy required when submitting electronic claims and
reduces the amount of time it takes before payment is received.

How reliable / secure is electronic
claiming?
Reliable: Datamax guarantees
that each and every claim reaches its destination. We implement
a host of checks and balances to ensure delivery. We also reconcile
with the medical aids regularly as a final precaution.
Secure: Encryption is used over
non-secure connections (such as the internet). Datamax takes every
precaution necessary to ensure the confidentiality of your claims.

How do we know if our claims
have been received?
For each batch you submit Datamax responds with
an acceptance report and a rejection report.
Delivery of claims reflected on the Acceptance
report is guaranteed by Datamax. The Acceptance
report also shows batch reference numbers for future follow-up if
necessary.
Claims shown on the Rejection report must be
corrected and resubmitted. Reasons for rejection are also shown
on this report.
Only claims shown on the Acceptance report are
charged for.

How quickly will I receive
feedback?
Datamax provides immediate response
on which claims have been accepted (by Datamax) and which have been
rejected (by Datamax).
Feedback from the medical aids takes longer,
but fortunately electronic remittance advices are being developed
by many of the bigger medical aids.
Either way, claiming electronically guarantees
the fastest possible response time.
Note that claims rejected by Datamax
are not charged for.

How quickly will I receive
payment?
That depends on you!
Practices that send accurate and timely claims
can receive payment within 5 days!!
However, remember that medical aids implement
"payment cycles", so the time taken for payment will usually
depend on the time of month.
One thing you can be sure of
is this: sending claims electronically is the most effective
way to ensure the quickest possible payment.

I'm not sure about all this!
What if I don't like it?
That's perfectly understandable. Every day we
are bombarded with offers that seem "too good to be true".
Your scepticism is justified.
The solution: your first month
is FREE. That means you can try Datamax for a month
without closing your account with your current electronic claims
company.
Leave everything as is until
you are confident that Datamax is the better option!
In the unlikely event that you want to go back
to using your old vendor, simply uninstall D.Comm. That's it!!!
No questions asked!
